Your own domain
Use a domain you own, like yourbusiness.com, or buy a new one through Webplo.
Both options start on the Domain page of the Site tab. Only owners can use them, and the site needs an active plan or trial. Without one, they show Subscribe to unlock.
Connect a domain you own
- Click Use your own domain.
- Under Enter your domain, type the domain, for example
yourbusiness.comorshop.yourbusiness.com, and click Connect. - Under Add these DNS records, copy the records into your domain provider's DNS settings. They come in two groups: Point your domain to us and Verify you own it. Each record shows its Type, Name / Host and Value / Points to, with a copy button.
- Wait. Webplo keeps checking: “Waiting for your DNS records. This can take 15 minutes to a few hours to take effect. We'll keep checking.”
You can close the window and keep working. The Domain page shows Waiting for DNS, with View status to reopen the records and Stop showing this to hide the progress message.
When the records are found, Webplo issues a free SSL certificate and connects the domain: “Your domain is live and secured.” The row then says Connected.
If it cannot verify the domain, you see “We couldn't verify your domain. Check the DNS records and try again.”
Removing it
Click Manage your own domain, then Remove domain. Confirm Remove custom domain?: “Your custom domain will be disconnected and your site will go back to its Webplo address. The SSL certificate will also be removed.”
Buy a domain
- Click Buy a domain. The dialog says “Register a brand-new domain for your site. We buy it, point it at your site, and it stays yours.”
- Type a domain under Search for a domain and click Search.
- The result shows the name, the price for one year, and Available, or why it is not.
- Click Continue.
- Fill in Registrant contact: first name, last name, email, phone, country (2 letters), address, city, state or province, and postal code. This is recorded as the legal owner of the domain.
- Tick the agreement, which says the registration is non-refundable once complete, then click Buy for and the price.
The price is charged to the card on file. If the site has no plan yet, Webplo asks you to Choose a plan first and finishes the purchase after you subscribe.
